1) Type up your feedback in full (you do not need to write mark/grade if you do not wish to).
WWW: Q2 shows clear potential and with more depth and revision could push into the top levels. Overall, though, this is a valuable lesson in the exam technique and revision/learning required for the summer.
EBI: Q1: revise/practice unseen questions. For the 25 mark essays, you need to write much more. Knowing the CSPs in depth is required...do you need to revise or go back and complete the original blog work? once you have the knowledge, it's all about question focus.
I needed 14 more marks to achieve my target grade.
3) Write a question-by-question analysis of your performance. For each question, write how many marks you got from the number available and identify any points that you missed by carefully studying the AQA indicative content in the mark scheme:
Q1: 4/9 marks
Additional points:
- the title as a sign anchors the possible meaning of the image – white-collar professionals as gangsters
- the grey skies are portentous, signifying a feeling of impending doom
- the relative size of the figures in relation to the buildings signifies a super-human aspect to the characters, suggesting their omnipotence
Q2: 11/25 marks
Additional points:
- Shirky’s ideas and theories on end of audience: mass amateurisation, cognitive surplus
- The way in which ‘end of audience’ theories argue that traditional boundaries (hierarchies?) between producer and audience have been blurred, integrated, reversed
Q3: 3/25 marks
Additional points:
- Kudos, the independent producer of the series, specialises in TV series which can be sold or remade for the US market, making it typical of contemporary media institutions which operate globally rather than nationally – suggesting the shifting contexts a PSB now operates in.
- AMC and RTL were able to develop the series in the context of new opportunities for distribution and exhibition – eg the Walter Presents platform in the UK, which is a subsidiary of C4, exploiting broadcast and digital opportunities.
Q4: 8/25 marks
Additional points:
- Much of Sims FreePlay reinforces stereotypical gender roles as Van Zoonen (sex role stereotypes) and Butler (gender as performance) state. This can be seen in customisation options when creating a Sim and also in expansion pack trailers such as Teens, Pregnancy and The Mall.
- Game created by Guerilla Games in Amsterdam, a company that prides itself on its diverse workforce and challenging gender inequalities and reflects recent cultural change (sometimes described as 'woke agenda.')
