Semiotics blog tasks

 1) From the opening of the scene the audience may make the assumption that the two main characters are there to cause trouble and are oblivious to the true meaning of the short film from that point.

2) The revelation at the end is up to interpretation in itself, as the audience can use this to show many meanings. Foe example, the perception of things and how they can be assumed to be a certain way.

1) Ferdinand de Saussure suggests that the two parts of a sign are the signifier and the signified.

2) Polysemy is the example of a sign.

3) Barthes suggests that signs can become naturalised, meaning that signs and a specific connotation became normalised by society. 

4) Barthes 5 narrative codes are: the enigma code, action code, semantic code, symbolic code, cultural code

5) The title acts as a symbolic code here which eventually helps us make sense of the narrative.
